I remember we used to make our own stitching work on Marken. I was sitting on the kitchentable creating these flowers and patterns, all in line with the patterns my grandmother used to make. I cannot find my own work anymore, but here are some examples from my family. Also a book, that belongs to my aunt. I can’t believe the detail of the work. This is something I can never achieve.

After the house was sold I am left with all these boxes with leftovers from my family. Stitching work that has never been finished. I am trying to figure out what to do with it. For some projects I use the material, for other projects I try to refind the skills of my mother and grandmother, skills I do not possess anymore. I am not a good stitcher (although I used to be); but I don’t have the patience anymore. This project will show the gap between generations.
